Anime First Impressions: Autumn 2013 (3)

First impression reviews in this post: Log Horizon, Magi S2, Strike The Blood, Yuushibu, Walkure Romanze.

Log Horizon

Another interesting anime about gaming world with full dive technology, can’t log out and trapped there. Can’t help from comparing this one with Sword Art Online. Of course, both have their own unique aspects. Log Horizon’s main hero is Shiroe, a strategist. His character is from mage/wizard class. That’s a bit fresh, since most story would always put a sword-based player as the main hero. The two other heroes are Akatsuki, female assassin and Naotsugu, male knight with shield/guard type. The world is called Elder Tale. Still no information what will happen if a player is killed in a battle against monster here.

Magi S2

Magi is back ! Yet another second season of excellent anime. The first episode continues from last season’s ending. All the characters are re-introduced in Sinbad’s country, with some preview that they might go separate ways. There are some hints that Sinbad is not as “good” as we might see him in first season, that he might have hidden agenda behind helping Alibaba and Aladin. And hey, he might be the final enemy boss in the end, who knows?

Blogging: no, I prefer to enjoy this anime without having to write about it.

Strike the Blood

Akatsuki Koujo (our main hero) used to be a normal human. Now he’s a vampire, plus some mysterious super power called fourth progenitor he seemed to receive against his will. Every-time he tries to remember what happened, he got extreme headache. Our main heroine is Himeragi, a girl highly skilled in magic and use a lance as her weapon. She is sent to monitor the behavior of our “fourth progenitor”, therefore she must tag along him anywhere. Sounds like a fun setting, though seems too convenient somehow.
Watching: yes.
Blogging: not sure about this one.

Yuushibu

Another anime about Maou, with a twist. The main hero is neither the Demon King (Maou) or the Hero (Yuusha). Our main hero this time is a boy aspired to be Hero, but ended up as nobody as somebody else has defeated Maou before him. So now he’s… ummm… getting a job as shopkeeper in a peaceful world without Maou. New employee is coming, and she’s the daughter of Maou. A combination between Hagure Yuusha no Estetica and Hataraku Maou-sama, I guess.
Watching: maybe.

Walkure Romanze

Our setting is a world where jousting is considered a cool sport. Takahiro (the main hero) used to be a knight, but transferred into squire program after an incident. the main heroine is a typical pink-haired clumsy girl, who (obviously) has a crush on Takahiro. But Takahiro gives more attention to horses compared to human female.
One extra thing worth mentioning. I know anything can happen in anime world, but bouncing metal? The body armor of those female knights (supposedly strong metal) are bouncing on *that* area, if you know what I mean.
Watching: yes, it’s funny.
Blogging: no.
