Lol, this is the first time I saw a magical girl choose to go to female toilet to transform.
After an awkward encounter with Tohsaka Rin from last week, Illya finally learns more about being a magical girl. Now we see that Rin and Luvia are in a mission to collect powerful cards. In episode 1 we already saw Rin holding an Archer card and Luvia has Lancer card. So I presume other “servant” characters from Fate/Stay become the “cards” here. Card hunting… similar to Cardcaptor Sakura, I guess.
The first card hunting is decided to happen at midnight at school ground. The card does not make trouble in “real” world. Instead, it’s hiding in another dimension. With Ruby’s help, Illya and Rin is entering the card dimension to capture it. What is the first card? It’s Rider.
Illya learns how to attack using Kaleid stick reasonably fast. She manages to do some damages to Rider, before Rider goes berserk and preparing some sort of ultimate move. Rin senses danger from this attack and tells Illya to run so Rin can put barrier to protect them both. Surprisingly, while the two of them is trying to survive the attack, a mysterious magical girl appear and defeats Rider so easily. There is no information yet about this new magical girl, but since she’s holding Sapphire, I presume she’s Sapphire’s new master.
A quite decent second episode. Illya’s reaction in getting her new power is cute and somehow refreshing. She’s not the usual magical girl who suddenly turned confident wearing sexy costume. Heck she even choose to hide in female toilet to do her transformation because she feels embarrassed by her costume. Finally a magical girl with believable reaction !
