Now THIS is what I call an epic finale !
We start from Akihito and Mirai. After their quick reunion, immediately they need to fight against kyoukai no kanata, who is trying to eliminate them both. Thanks to his mom, Akihito’s right hand now carries the same power as kyoukai no kanata (he got this from absorbing the youmu stone from previous episode).
The rest of the group are now up against the mysterious guy from Spirit Hunter Association. He’s insanely strong thanks to a youmu inside him. Plus he reveals a big secret: Izumi is apparently in similar situation, something happened in the past, forcing a youmu to reside inside her. Izumi finally stabs him, but now her siblings heard about that youmu inside.
Back to Akihito and Mirai. The battle scenes are epic and quite enjoyable. At some point, Ayaka appears and helps them. Ai-chan is helping too, well, sorta.
Akihito defeats kyoukai no kanata by absorbing it back to his body. But as soon as kyoukai no kanata lost, Mirai’s body cracks. Apparently it’s not her real body. The Mirai that we see is just her last consciousness that can take form because of kyoukai no kanata. So we have a really really sad parting scene where Akihito must watch Mirai disappears in front of him, again.
Everything back to normal, except Mirai is gone. Hiroomi becomes the new head of Nase family after Izumi went somewhere after her secret was revealed. Sakura becomes friends with Ai. Akihito is trying to live his life without Mirai.
One day, the ring Akihito kept when Mirai disappeared suddenly disappears. Akihito knows right away it means Mirai is nearby. So he went to the school roof, place where he first met her. And Mirai is miraculously there. Akihito asks her to put on her glasses again. Some people interprets this as “Akihito proposes to Mirai”, but I’m not so sure about what it really means.
So we have the happy ending we wished for. But the big question remains. How can Mirai suddenly re-appears? What really happened? There’s still one more episode (episode 13). Hopefully it will explain this big question.
I’m happy for Mirai. I’m happy for Akihito. This anime turns out to be a LOT better than I thought it would be. This goes to my folder of “BEST anime”.
