A rival has appeared !

What’s a romance story without a rival. So this episode we are introduced to Luna, the first princess of Ocean Kingdom. She is also Livius’ childhood friend, who promised to marry Livius when there were kids (one sided promise, Livius never replied).

To be honest, Luna seems like a better pair for Livius. They are from the same social status, know each other for many years, and she’s way more educated as a princess compared to Nike. She’s the same height as Livius, too. However when Livius became king after the death of his mother, Luna was scared to see Livius’ dark-side and distanced herself. She returns to Sun Kingdom when she hears that Livius is getting engaged.

I guess in way, Luna is not prepared to love Livius for his whole person. She seems to like him for his good aspects only. Nike sees Livius as a complete person, doesn’t feel intimidated by his position and successfully bring positive changes to his character. Indeed love is not always something that can be “calculated” based on its components.

As I predicted since the first few minutes after Luna’s appearance, this episode ends with “something happen and the heroine saved the rival”. Cliche to the max, but I guess it’s only fitting for the theme of this anime.

Another rain song. Rain summoning is no longer special at this point. It seems to happen in every episode since episode 2. Plus a little bonus: Nike finally calls Livius by name.
